The Nikka Miyagikyo distillery is the second distillery of Nikka located in the valley of Miyagi, a region in the North of Japan's Honshu island recogised for the purity of its air and the quality of its spring water, the Nikka Miyagikyo distillery produces a refined malt with signature fresh fruit and floral aromas. This single malt bottling is the purest expression of the distillery's delicate character, with an emphasis on ex-sherry cask maturation to bring added depth to this whisky's natural charm.The founder Masataka Taketsuru chose this site in the mountains of Sendai to contrast with his first distillery, Yoichi, located in the coastal area.
