Nikka Tsuru Whisky Aged 17 Years Old Ceramic

This 17 year old blend is named Tsuru, the Japanese word for crane, the graceful bird whose likeness adorns the exterior of this attractive ceramic decanter. As far as the tasting profile is concerned, on the nose you are confronted with scents of dates, light peat and smoke, liquorice and some atis/custard apples. Some hints of fruits like apples, strawberries and pears, followed by some sherry, chocolate raisins, hazelnuts and orange peel.In the mouth - a gentle wave of chocolate, dates and strawberries. A lingering layer of coffee, hazelnuts and sherry notes. Another wave of chocolates but with orange candy and some peat. The peat and nutty notes seem to keep coming together to form a combination of coffee, oak and chocolate notes.

Overall, a 43% blended whisky from three famous Japanese distilleries that is sure to enamour a beginner whisky drinker and satisfy a connoisseur.
