Karuizawa Cask Strength Vintages 1999-2000 1st Release

Karuizawa distillery was a Japanese whisky distillery. It was located at Miyota, a town on the southern slopes of an active complex volcano, Mount Asama, in Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. These conditions lend themselves to perfect production as there are low temperatures and high humidity. The distillery was established in 1955 and closed in 2011 and enjoyed many awards in recent years.

This 1999-2000 cask strength series comes from the final years of the distilleries production - this particular bottle was released in 2015, exclusively for the Japanese market. Bottled at full strength of 61.0% it is now revered as one of the most prestigious single malts in the world, an accolade of which only continues to strengthen as stock numbers continue to thin.
