Jack Daniels Unaged Tennessee Rye Batch No 001

In December 2012, Jack Daniel’s released an entirely new Whiskey which was very different from anything they had done before. Unaged Tennessee Rye was the first time in over 100 years that Jack Daniel had used a new grain recipe. This was a very limited release due to the remainder of the Rye Whiskey barrels being left to mature in the warehouses for a future release.  Making rye the lead grain was certainly a good idea, because it made the outcome taste exceptionally unique. With fruity notes and the sweetness of honey in its nose, it tastes like raspberries, dried cherries, and rye. On the palate it has a fruity taste again, before strong notes of rye take the sweetness over. With hints of different spices the taste is round and satisfying. Mild aroma leads to a rather dry finish that leaves you with a mellow taste of this Unaged Rye.
