Hokkaido Akkeshi Sarorunkamuy Lightly Peated 2020 20cl

This limited edition release is the first ever single malt release aged for more than three years. After previously releasing a number of new- make expressions entitled the 'Foundations', we were given a taste of the repertoire of maturing stock that the distillery had to offer since 2016 which was very well received by critics. This first single malt release was matured in carefully selected bourbon, sherry, red wine and Mizunara casks bringing a range of smooth and fruity notes. On the nose you receive aromas of red fruits, toasted malt and crème brûlée, to which are added on the palate fruity notes of candied cherry, yuzu, bitter orange, as well as greedier notes of hazelnut chocolate brownie, and small spicy touches of nikki cinnamon and sansho pepper. The finish is soft and persistent in which white pepper and orange peel will accompany the disappearance of the aromas.
